Along with stress due to personal reasons, people are also affected due to environmental factors and they have to endure all these things while earning and making a mark in their career. Did you know that emotional and mental stress, besides exposure to the harsh environment, can cause skin problems as well? The most common among them would be acne. With highly limited time, how does one treat acne with home remedies?

Effective home remedies to treat acne in adults

  • Toothpaste
    Apply an even layer of toothpaste with a cotton swab on the affected areas. Let it dry overnight.
  • Baking Soda
    Take equal portions of baking soda and water. Make a smooth paste and apply it evenly over the acne. Leave it for a few minutes and rinse it with cold water.
  • Vaseline
    Apply petroleum jelly and leave it overnight.
  • Yogurt
    Use your fingertips to apply a layer of chilled yogurt on the acne-affected area. Soak for 10 minutes and wash.
  • Milk and honey
    Take a cup of milk and mix 2 tablespoons of honey. Apply this to your face with a cotton swab. Massage lightly and rinse off in 10 minutes.
  • Lemon
    Take just under a drop of lemon and apply on the affected area. Rinse after 5 minutes.
  • Rose water
    Take 1/2 a cup of rose water and add 2 tablespoon of turmeric, lemon (few drops), and 1 tablespoon of honey. Apply this on your face using your fingers. Once it is semi-dried, massage in a circular motion and rinse with warm water.
  • Aloe vera
    Extract the gel from the plant and apply it directly to the affected areas. You could also mix coconut oil or add tender coconut water to this. Ensure to let it stay for about 15 minutes before you wash it off.
  • Sandalwood combination
    There are innumerable variations to the sandalwood pack. You could use sandalwood powder and rosewater or sandalwood powder along with honey and turmeric (or just one of these ingredients). In addition to this, sandalwood powder, aloe vera, and water or sandalwood powder mixed in coconut oil are great as well.
  • Honey and cinnamon mask
    Take 2 tablespoons of honey and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon together. After cleansing your face, apply the mask and leave it for around 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
  • Oats and honey
    Oats mixed with honey helps to scrub off the dead cells in and around the acne. This mixture has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which helps to reduce acne.
